Through interviews with family members, neighbors, friends, and those who trained as kamikazes but survived the war, the film traces the lives of two young men coerced into killing themselves and taking the lives of 393 Americans in the most successful kamikaze attack of World War II. For the first time ever, surviving kamikaze pilots explain what it was like to train for and await a suicide mission. Utilizing never before seen archival footage, recently declassified documents, and interviews with veterans from around the United States, the film tells the story of remarkable American heroism as sailors and marines sacrificed their own lives to save their comrades and their ship.
